Hydraulic Blade Adjusting Device is used in Thermal power plants. It is used in Forced Draft fans & Primary Air fans for pressurizing the systems. These are variable pitch axial fans widely used in Thermal power plants. These fans are located at the inlet of boiler to push high pressure fresh air into combustion chamber, where it mixes with the fuel to produce positive pressure. The angle of the fan blades is adjusted using HAD for varying the fan performance.
HAD comprises of a Control head with various ports for admitting oil through inlet and collecting excess oil/ return oil from other ports. The pressurised mineral oil is used for actuating a double acting cylinder. The actuating cylinder opens & closes the blade arrangement which increases/ decreases the fan performance.
