Lock Valve Assembly or Valve Assembly is used in K9 Vajra tanks. It is a directional controlled valve operated using hydraulic oil flow. It consists of Spool, Sleeve and Valve body. Spool moves inside the Sleeve by means of hydraulic oil. The Sleeve is shrink fit in the Valve body and so there is no movement or oil leakage through the Sleeve. Tight clearance between the spool and sleeve is used for achieving precise function of the Valve assembly
Function:
Valve assembly is used to restrict the transfer of recoil load caused during the firing of the barrel and to prevent the damage of other components.
Working:
When hydraulic oil flows through the ports in the valve body and through the holes in the sleeve which causes the spool to move inside the sleeve. Based on the oil pressure the spool moves and restricts the flow to the other port and holes. In the absence of oil pressure, the spool returns to its original position due to spring action.
